Dear Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District Member,

I’m pleased to announce the first edition of the new quarterly CBD newsletter “CBDetails ONLINE”. The goal of these newsletters will be to update the entire Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District on accomplishments along with progress on short and long term projects. The Community Benefit Districts tasks are divided into three major groups SOBO (Street Operations, Beautification and Order), Urban Planning and Marketing. Each of these groups will report monthly on their progress.

In this month’s report you will find tremendous achievement for the Fisherman’s Wharf Community
Benefit District.

The Port-side officially joined the Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District on
December 12, 2006, combining assessments of $187,300 with City Side Assessment of over $589,600. This combined assessment will total $775,000 annually for the next 14 years to will be used to clean, beautify, improve and market Fisherman’s Wharf.

It is hard to believe that the CBD has only been in operation for 11 months, and would like to share with you our major accomplishments:

  • Over 2,144 hours of street cleaning service. Steam cleaning of major thoroughfares will begin again this May.
  • To date the CBD has removed graffiti on 76 buildings.
  • 55 Parking Directional Signs have been installed in the area with the help of the Department of Parking and Traffic.
  • In partnership with Fisherman’s Wharf Residents, the defeat of the proposed Medical Cannabis Dispensary on Leavenworth Street.
  • In conjunction with the Port of San Francisco and Merchants a mutually acceptable Airspace Signage Program on the South side of Jefferson Street was formulated.
  • An intensive three wave Demographic Study seeking information on “Who Visits Fisherman’s Wharf and the Reasons for their Visit” was conducted.
  • An Urban Planning Review of the Fisherman’s Wharf area, with San Francisco based urban planners, EDAW was completed.
  • Worked with City Hall and City Agency Directors to review future infrastructure upgrades to Fisherman’s Wharf’s in the areas of Zoning, Traffic, Parking and Circulation conditions.
  • And much, much more….

I look forward to publishing updates through these quarterly email newsletters, along with personally providing an overview of the progress of the CBD at our Annual CBD Meeting on May 22, 2007, to be held in PIER 39’s “THEATRE 39” at 9:00am.

Please feel free to personally contact me with any questions via email at rodney@waxmuseum.com.
