Our neighborhood boasts hotels of all types, but in general they are much more affordable than downtown properties. How do I get Alcatraz tickets?
For online reservations, click here. Reservations can be made 30 days in advance. In-Person. You can purchase tickets in person by visiting The Alcatraz Landing ticket office at Pier 33, The Embarcadero. Telephone. Phone reservations can be made by calling Alcatraz Cruises at 415-981-ROCK (415-981-7625).
 
   
How do I get to Alcatraz?
Ferries to Alcatraz depart from Alcatraz Landing at Pier 33 daily. For detailed information on operating hours, fees and reservations, please visit the Alcatraz section of the National Park Service website.
   
Is Fisherman's Wharf expensive?
No, visitors at Fisherman's Wharf have many options when it comes to meals, entertainment, and lodging. Restaurant choices range from fine dining options to street vendors. When it comes to lodging you can choose from economy to four star hotels with full amenities. There are plenty of choices no matter how big or small your budget.
 
 
What's fun for kids at Fisherman's Wharf?
Fisherman's Wharf is an ideal place to bring children of all ages. Some of the popular activities for kids are visiting the Aquarium of the Bay at PIER 39, or indulging in world famous Ghirardelli chocolate and hot fudge sundaes at Ghirardelli Square. Where do I go to take a bay cruise?
Fisherman's Wharf is the place you need to be. Bay cruises depart regularly, with numerous options. The Red & White Fleet, from Pier 43 ½ and The Blue & Gold Fleet, from PIER 39 have frequent daily departures. At Jefferson and Jones Streets, local fishermen often offer fun bay cruises aboard their boats..

Can I buy fresh fish at the Wharf to take home with me?
Yes, The Alioto-Lazio Fish Company sells fresh crab, click here for more information. You will also find many vendors along Jefferson Street that sell fresh crab daily.
   
Where can I eat crab at the Wharf?
Most sit-down restaurants at the Wharf sell fresh crab on their menus during crab season. You can also go to the intersection of Taylor and Jefferson Street where you’ll find outdoor vendors selling fresh whole crabs, as well as seafood cocktails and calamari for you to savor.
 
 
When is crab season?
Crab season runs from November through June in California, but the abundance of Dungeness crab is available from November through January. Be sure to join us at Fisherman's Wharf for the many exciting events and activities happening during this special time of the year.
 
   
When is salmon season?
The local sports fishing salmon season begins in May and runs through November, and the peak months are in June, July and August.
   
Where can I go fishing from The Wharf?
There are a number of sports fishing boats available to charter for private fishing tours departing from Fisherman’s Wharf. All of the sports fishing operators below offer fishing trips in the great San Francisco Bay. They are located at the intersection of Jefferson and Jones Streets.

Do you need a car in Fisherman’s Wharf?
A car is not necessary. The Wharf is flat and very pedestrian-friendly. The F-Line streetcar also runs along The Embarcadero to Jefferson and Jones Street. You can also pick-up thePowell-Hyde Cable Car Line at Hyde and Beach Streets or the Powell-Mason Line on Taylor and Bay Streets.

Where can I rent a car at The Wharf?
You can rent a car in the Wharf at: Avis Car Rental in Anchorage Square at 500 Beach Street, Suite 120 (between Jones and Leavenworth Streets), 415-441-4141; Enterprise Rent A Car located at 350 Beach Street (between Mason and Taylor Streets), 415-474- 9600; Hertz Car Rental in Anchorage Square at 500 Beach Street, Suite 121 (between Jones and Leavenworth Streets), 415-674-8330.
   
When and where can I see the sea lions?
The best time of the year to see the sea lions at PIER 39 is late July through May. During the summer months sea lions travel down the California coast for their mating season.
 
   
Is Fisherman's Wharf pet friendly?
Yes! While we love your pet, please keep Fido on a leash at all times, and pets are not allowed in restaurants. Several hotels in the area including The Argonaut Hotel, and the Best Western Tuscan Inn are pet friendly hotel options.
