Wax Museum Building at Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco

In the year 2008, the Wax Museum at Fisherman’s Wharf commemorates its 45th year of providing an entertaining to visitor’s to the popular Fisherman’s Wharf area. Founded by Thomas L. (Tommy) Fong in 1963, the world-renowned tourist attraction is still family owned and operated. Tommy Fong’s grandson Rodney, representing the third generation, now runs most of the day-to-day operation of the family businesses.

The Fong Family heralded the new millennium with the construction of a brand new, state-of-the-art building on their Fisherman’s Wharf property. The all-new Wax Museum occupies the entire subterranean level of an impressive 100, 000 square foot edifice and features more than 270 life-like wax personalities in 57

expertly crafted settings, enhanced with artistic lighting, realistic props and informative narrations. Guests wander at their leisure through the Gallery of Stars, Presidential Library, Sports Hall of Fame, Hall of Religion, Palace of Living Art and many other fascinating exhibits.

The Wax Museum shares its state-of-the-art building with various retail venues, such as Natalie’s Antique Gallery and Payless Shoe Source. The Wax Museum Building also houses a family-friendly McDonald’s Restaurant for those families who prefer a quick meal at a reasonable price, and sweet-toothed visitors find it hard to resist the charmingly aromatic San Francisco Chocolate Store, with its endless selection of delectable treats.

The internationally acclaimed Rainforest Café is the largest and centerpiece tenant in the Wax Museum Building, seating more than 500 diners on three floors. The jungle-themed restaurant, complete with dense foliage and friendly animated wildlife, features a spectacular three-floor waterfall and a 7,000-gallon walk-through aquarium.

.Transportation to and from the Fisherman's Wharf area is available by public transit (MUNI lines: 10, 15, 19, 30, 47, 49, the historic F Market street cars and the world famous Powell-Hyde and Powell-Mason cable car lines), ferry, taxi or automobile.

The Wax Museum Building is open every day of the year … rain or shine! It is centrally located on Jefferson Street, between Taylor and Mason, in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf.
